
Rampart Village at its present location was a 1890 Gold Rush
community, has a population of twenty in the winter and 40-50 in the
summer. Rampart School was closed in 1990.
The original Village was one mile from where Rampart now sits and
its name comes from the Rampart Hills. Rampart Village is 70 miles
from Tanana Village and Stevens Village. Major activities include
Spring Carnival and July 4th Celebration. Rampart offers Wildlife
viewing, great Fishing and Hunting, Trapping and Gold Panning. Furs
made into Slippers, Gloves, Ruffs, Coats and Boots, bead work, and
Birch Bark Baskets are still produced. |
