Welcome to Alaska Yukon River Expedition, offering visitors a Unique and Truly Once in a lifetime Experience River Boating down the Wild Super Natural Yukon River, where you will meet the real people of Alaska, see the real Alaska, and discover the Wild Super Natural Yukon River. The Expedition will begin in the Village of Circle and end in the Village of Holy Cross, visiting a total of fourteen unique Alaskan Villages and with a history dating back more than 2,000 years.
Yukon means "great river" in Gwich'in Athabascan and the Yukon river was called Kwiguk, or "large stream", in Yupik.
The Yukon River flows through several Preserves and Refuges including: Innoko National Wildlife Refuge, Nowitna National Wildlife Refuge, Yukon Charley Rivers National Preserve, Yukon Delta National Wildlife Refuge, and Yukon Flats National Wildlife Refuge.
